Getting Started | Q: | The file I just downloaded is not 300dpi, which is the
standard for printed materials. Why? | | A: | The images you downloaded are output by different cameras,
scanners or other equipment. The default resolution on some
of them could be lower than 300 dpi. This doesn't mean that
the file is not usable. Before you download a file, first
make sure you check the "Print size" displayed under the
"Download" button in both English and metric systems and for
both web and print use.
Use any graphical software to adjust its resolution (if you
are using Adobe Photoshop, make sure you uncheck the
"resample image" option before changing the resolution of
the file to 300dpi). | | | | Q: | Are the images free of watermarks? | | A: | All high-resolution images you download have no watermarks.
The only images watermarked are the thumbnails visible on
the site. You can download a file by using the Add to Cart
button located on the Image details page, right below the
image. Read the information from the 'Download confirmation'
page carefully as it contains useful information regarding
how to successfully retrieve the file in various ways.
| | | | Q: | What does "credit" stand for? | | A: | When registering as a member you have access to volume
discount packages. This means that you pay for buying
credits. A credit is the unit used to download images. For
each image a certain number of credits is deducted from your
account. The unused credits are kept in your account for
future use. | | | | Q: | What method of payment do you accept? | | A: | We partnered with PayPal.com and PesaPal.com to provide you
several options for buying the images. You can pay using
your PayPal account or credit cards on the same platform. If
you are in Kenya, PesaPal allows you to make payments from
your mobile money accounts such as MPESA, ZAP and Yu Money.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American
Express and Discover). | | | | Q: | As a new customer I am trying to figure out which credit
package to purchase. Can you help? | | A: | The packages are tailored for your design needs. If you use
many images on the long term, then a higher package is
suggested, in order to take advantage of the higher discounts.
If you need less images choose a less expensive package. | | | | Q: | I cannot distinguish between watermarked and non-watermarked
images. When I click on them, they all have a watermark. Can
you help? | | A: | Our site provides various sizes of small thumbnails and a
larger version (comp) that includes a transparent watermark
(our logo as a semitransparent layer centered on the image).
Note that this is needed for security reasons and the
high-resolution version you will download (using the
download button) is free of any watermarks. | | | | Q: | I don't have a credit card nor a Paypal or MPESA/ZAP or YU
Money account. How can I buy credits for downloading images? | | A: | We strongly encourage you to contact your local bank and
request an international credit card. We have customers from
all over the world and we accept cards issued by any bank,
as long as they are internationally valid.
If all these fail, you can contact us at +254 717 514 477 or
send us an email for details on how to make a payment using
a regular bank check, money order or cashiers check. Note
that the credits are added only after the bank clears your
funds, therefore delays can appear. | | | | Q: | I want to buy a subscription package. How many images can I
download and when does the subscription ends? | | A: | The subscription package gives you access to a very high
discount. The bonus can even exceed 100% in specific cases.
Considering the high amount of images that you can download,
a daily restriction is applied in order to assure an equal
split of the consumption throughout the whole subscription
month. You may download up to 10 or 20 images per day, each
day. If you spent all images today, come back tomorrow and
continue the download. If you are trying to meet a deadline
and need more images today, you can buy credits that can be
used right away.
The subscription ends after 30 days since you purchased the
subscription, it is not related to the calendar month. | | | | Q: | I forgot my login details, how do I find them? | | A: | In order to retrieve your login details please access this
page. Use the email address you provided upon registration.
Site features | Q: | I like the zoom feature when browsing the search results,
however, I find it distracting at other times. Can I disable
it if I wish to? | | A: | Currently, we do not have the option to turn off the zoom
feature. | | | | Q: | What's a collection/lightbox? | | A: | A collection is a set of images on a specific theme created
with the purpose of easier access to those images in the
future. Instead of searching for them each time or keeping a
list of URLs, you can create a collection/lightbox for
future use. The feature requests the owner (the person who
creates it) to assign relevant title, keywords and
description. They should be relevant as other designers
could use the collection in the future. Africaknows.com is a
community so share this experience even if you are creating
the collection/lightbox for your own use. | | | | Q: | I have heard that you provide free images. How can I
download them and what restrictions do they have? | | A: | From time to time we offer promotional free credits. If you
received a free evaluation credit you should be aware that
it cannot be used in projects, unless a commercial credit
package has been acquired. The free credit allows you to
evaluate any image on the site.
Images downloaded from the free section can be used under
the Limited Royalty-Free
license. They can be found in the "Free
photos" page. | | | | Q: | How can I edit my profile information? | | A: | You should access the Management
Area and update your information in the Member
Profile section.
| | | | Q: | How can I change my password and/or my personal details? | | A: | Your profile information, including password and email can
be replaced from the Member
area. Access the About tab, replace the information and
click Submit. | | | | Q: | How can I save the images I like or consider for future
purchases? | | A: | The feature you are looking for is the lightbox. You can
create one using the Lightbox link from the upper toolbar.
After the lightbox is created, on the image details page a
new dropdown will appear which will allow you to add the
image to one of the lightboxes created.
Furthermore, you can email that lightbox to a friend or
share it with other users (they need to be registered in
order to edit the content of the lightbox).
A similar feature is the "Collections" area. You can create
a collection that will be available to all users on the
site, giving you easy access in the future to the files you
like and also helping other users to see images selected by
specific criteria. | | | | Q: | I want to donate one of my images to the "Free photo"
section. What do I have to do? | | A: | You can donate images at submission time (regular uploads).
Please note that the free photos can be used commercially by
designers and that we reserve the right to select the images
donated. | | | | Q: | I am having a challenge actually downloading an image. I
have no idea where the JPEG is being downloaded to. It does
not show up on my computer desktop. Can you please tell me
exactly how to download the images from your website on to
my computer? | | A: | The location of the saved file may depend on your OS version
and browser type.
Internet Explorer on some WIN operating systems may save the
file in the Temporary Internet Files folder, while some Mac
browsers will save it on the desktop.
You can do a search after the latest JPG files located on
your computer that include "africaknows" in their filename.
As this happens only on the some systems, the best choice
would be to try to download the file again and read carefuly
all instructions listed on the Download Confirmation page in
order to be able to specify the desired location. | | | | Q: | Will my personal information be displayed under the profile
page? | | A: | We do not disclose your contact details. We only show your
city, country, website and company information. | | | | Q: | How can I see if a credit was deducted twice? | | A: | When you first download an image, the system automatically
allocates you 24 hours when you can download the file again
without having any other credits deducted. After this time
expires any download is counted again. You should check the
"Downloads" section and if an image is listed twice, email
us for a refund (include the file ID). | | | | Q: | I registered with Africa Knows and provided a valid email
address, but I am not receiving any emails from you. | | A: | If you are using a spam filter or a free email provider such
as Gmail or Hotmail, ensure that the filters are not
accidentally marking our emails as spam. This is possible
especially for the automated notifications we send to our
contributors. If you cannot identify the filters, call your
email/ISP provider or replace the email address used in your
profile with another one. | | | | Q: | When does a subscription day start? | | A: | The subscription day starts at the time when you bought the
subscription. The day resets after 24 hours from this time. | | | | Q: | How do I contact one of your contributors/photographers? | | A: | In order to contact a photographer, you can either leave a
review on one of his/her images or click on the "Sitemail to
User" button to send a private email. Please note that it is
unsafe and against our policies to forward your private
contact address for off-site transactions. | | | | Q: | I need a special image and can't find in your library? Is
there a section for photo requests? | | A: | Please Contact
Us and we will assist you with special photo requests.
Buyer-related questions | Q: | What license is granted with the images? | | A: | The regular downloads are accompanied by our Royalty-Free
License or our Editorial License. For types of usage that
are not included in these licenses you have to contact us.
More details on the Terms
and Conditions page.
| | | | Q: | May I use the images on business cards? | | A: | If the design of the business card is unique, meaning you
don't sell the same design to different companies, you can
use the images as long as the total number of cards (for all
employees) doesn't exceed 500,000 copies. Note that the
images cannot be used as part of a logo with any type of
license that we provide, except for the Sell the Rights
License which includes this usage. | | | | Q: | Can I use the photos I buy from Africa Knows in more than a
single project? | | A: | If each project is different as a concept (not a template
based presentation) then you can use the photos for more
than one client, you don't have to buy them twice. If the
concept is the same you cannot use the images because this
will be seen as redistribution. The total number of copies
shouldn't exceed 500,000 copies. Note that if more than a
single person within your company will be using the image,
then you will need to license it using the Unlimited seats
(U-EL) extended license. Please contact us
regarding this license. | | | | Q: | May I download the same image twice? | | A: | In case of a download failure, you can download the same
image as many times as you need if you try again within 24
hours from the first attempt. No other credits will be
deducted IF you download the same version and license.
To re-download, see link in your download archive in
Management Area/Downloads or the upper right corner of your
screen.
After this time interval expires, a new credit will be
needed to download the file. If 24 hours have expired and
you are unable to open or can't find the file downloaded,
please contact
support and you will receive the image via email.
| | | | Q: | May I use the image on a postcard sent to my customers? | | A: | The images downloaded using the regular Royalty Free license
can be included on postcards sent to a company's clients
and/or partners ONLY if the postcard is advertising the
company's services and products, thus is an advertisement.
You cannot sell these postcards and the maximum amount
should be less than 500,000 copies.
Our images can be used in postcards that are to be resold
ONLY if you acquire the Extended License for print. Please
contact
us concerning this license.
| | | | Q: | Can I use the images in web templates resold to other
buyers/clients (as an identical design)? | | A: | Such usage is allowed only for images downloaded using the
Web Extended license.
Images downloaded using the regular Royalty Free license
CANNOT be used within web templates supposed to be resold to
more than one customer or by any means which can be seen as
a way of reselling or redistributing the images.
Images downloaded using the regular Royalty Free license can
be used in templates designed for a SINGLE client, templates
that are part of the same site's layout (e.g. as the layout
for a subpage is common to many pages from the same site, a
common term among web designers names it a template, but
this doesn't mean that the template is to be sold to more
than one customer).
If you have any doubts about a usage please contact support.
| | | | Q: | Do I have to give credit for the image? | | A: | Should you use the image for editorial purposes, giving a
credit line is compulsory. This is not imperative in
commercial usage but strongly recommended and highly valued.
The credit line is to be found in your download history or
underneath the thumbnail on the image detail page. A
linkable credit line can be also used within the referral
program bringing you revenue. We rely on our members help
for constant growth and development.
| | | | Q: | How can I buy images? | | A: | For downloading images you need to buy credits. You can do
this by accessing the "Buy
Credits" page. | | | | Q: | What's the maximum amount of copies allowed? | | A: | The total number of copies in which you include the image
should not exceed 500,000 copies for the Royalty Free
license. This doesn't apply for electronic use. If you
exceed this number, you will have to acquire the I-EL
(increase maximum copies) extended license which allows you
to print up to 2,500,000 copies. If you exceed this amount
too, you will have to acquire a new I-EL license for more
2,500,000 copies.
These amounts and the I-EL license apply only to the regular
Royalty Free license. For usage types as the ones from the
W-EL license or P-EL license you will have to acquire that
specific license once again in order to double the allowed
number of copies.
| | | | Q: | Can I use your photos as a reference for my paintings and
sell the painting to my customers? | | A: | This is seen as selling derivative work and is not accepted
by our Royalty Free license. With this license you cannot
use an image by any means which can be seen as a way of
reselling or redistributing the images.
However, we provide several extended licenses. The P-EL
license (extended license for print) gives you the right to
use an image as a reference for an artwork that is to be resold.
If you have any doubts about a usage please contact support.
| | | | Q: | My file didn't download completely, was saved with a PHP
extension or the file doesn't open. What should I do? | | A: | Some browsers or systems can have incompatibilities with our
scripts. If you experience a problem, make sure you read all
information and instructions displayed on the 'Download
confirmation' page (the one where the download process
starts) and try again. Don't forget that if you act within a
few hours from the first attempt, you can download the same
file several times without having other credits deducted.
Always ensure the file downloaded completely and correctly.
If any issues appear you can download it again right away. | | | | Q: | I paid for a photo to download about six months ago and put
it on my brochure. I'd like to use the same photo for a
website I'm developing. How would that work? | | A: | If the new usage is included under the same license (like in
this case) and meets all requirements (such as maximum
amount of printed copies for a brochure-old usage + a book
cover-new usage) then you don't need to pay once again for
the image. If the new usage is not included in the previous
license (such a royalty-free-old usage VS. selling
postcards-new usage) you will have to acquire a new license,
one that is appropriate for your new usage. | | | | Q: | I want to use one of your extended licenses for using an
image. I read that these are additional to the Royalty Free
license, do I have to download both licenses (e.g. royalty
free AND the extended license)? | | A: | It is true that the terms of use are additional to the
regular ones included in our Royalty Free license. However,
you need to download the image only once, using the extended
license that fits your usage and the appropriate download
button. There is no need for a separate download as Royalty
Free, although some users do a first RF download, for
comping reasons. | | | | Q: | How can the prices be so low? Is this for real? | | A: | Thanks to the continual evolution and diversification of
digital technologies, we are able to provide images of a
very high quality at a completely convenient price. All the
images are carefully analyzed and selected by our agency, in
order to make sure that only the best are included and that
the range of subjects is extensive.
Note that several restrictions apply and that depending on
your usage you should acquire the appropriate license for
downloading the images.
| | | | Q: | My file did download completely but it doesn't open. What
should I do?
| | A: | If the file downloaded completely but your software program
doesn't open it, try again using another program and resave
it. If you still experience problems contact support. | | | | Q: | I have lost the files I previously downloaded from Africa
Knows, how can I download them again? | | A: | You have 24 hours for retrieving the same file again (in
order to fix any problems that could appear during the
download process: file downloaded incorrectly, connection
was lost, etc). Because of bandwidth usage, after this time
interval expires you can download the same file again only
if you use more credits. If you have lost a file that was
previously downloaded please send an email to support with
full details and we will resend you the file via email. | | | | Q: | How can I download images? | | A: | To download an image, click the small thumbnail on the
search results page (if you're using search). You will be
directed to the image details page (i.e. example, which
contains a table with information about the file sizes,
print size, licenses and prices available. To download
images you first need to acquire credits or a subscription
plan. This can be done from the "Buy
Credits" page. | | | | Q: | I am looking for 100 MB photos. Do you have such high
resolution files? | | A: | We mostly use a size in Megapixels (MP) for reference, the
standard use in printing and not Megabytes (MB), which is
not fully irrelevant because it can vary a lot from one
photo to another, even if they have the same size in pixels.
Sizes can be always checked on each image details page
underneath the thumbnails or in the price table on the
right. We mention mainly size in Megapixels (MP) but the
vast majority of our files also have the Megabytes (MB) size
specified.
| | | | Q: | The file saved as an .exe application. What should I do? | | A: | If your browser saved the image with an .exe extension,
simply remove the ".exe" part from the end of the filename
and make sure the files ends with a ".jpg" extension.
In order to change the extension of the file under Windows,
right click the file and choose "Rename" from the menu. In
order to change the extension of the file under Macintosh
systems click, hold and press CTRL on your keyboard.
| | | | Q: | Does the license I purchased expire? | | A: | Our licenses are lifetime granted. You pay for the image
only once and then you can use it as many times as you like,
with restrictions regarding allowed number of copies,
single-seat user, etc. For all requirements please see Terms
and Conditions. In other words, there are no license
fees except the initial fee and no other royalties to be
paid except those included in the initial cost. | | | | Q: | What is the difference between a lightbox and a collection? | | A: | Both the lightboxes and the collections are used to save images.
The collection is public – when it has images from at least
5 contributors online – and therefore can be viewed by
anyone. If it has less than 5 contributors participating, it
can be seen only if you use a direct link to it (not within
the collections section).
The collection has a common topic for the images selected
and it needs to be given a title. The person who chooses to
manage a collection needs to select images on the same
concept/topic/theme, give the collection appropriate title,
description and keywords. Once the collection has images
from more than 5 contributors, it becomes available in the
collections section and can be used as reference by anyone
who finds it or performs topic related searches.
The lightbox on the other hand is not public. It is a
personal and private collection of images where you save
images you are interested to download them later. As
compared to the collections, the lightboxes do not have to
contain images on the same topic/theme/concept and their
inclusion in the lightbox is randomly selected in searches
by buyers interested to quickly and efficiently save images
for later download. Sharing the lightbox with other users is
optional for the owner. Designers usually share it or email
the lightbox to their clients or fellow designers. A
lightbox is not made public on the site regardless of the
number of contributors from whom images were saved.
| | | | Q: | Can I use the free evaluation file? | | A: | If you received free credit(s) after your registration, the
file(s) downloaded with them can be used with the Royalty
Free license ONLY if you have acquired at least one credit
package. If the image was downloaded but no credits were
bought, then you cannot use the image in any type of project
(commercial, personal or not for profit). You may use the
image if you're a photographer and convert a part or all
your earnings into credits. | | | | Q: | I am a buyer and need a copy of the model release associated
with an image that I have downloaded. Is it possible to get
a copy? If so, is there a cost? | | A: | Africa Knows has copies of model releases for all images
that feature identifiable persons. Generally the model signs
the release in the presence of a witness. Even with our
standard release, you need to request permission to use a
model in an image that is associated with sensitive issues.
Our terms expressively forbid the use of a model’s image for
adult uses. Under certain circumstances you can request a
copy of the model release and we will provide a version with
the model’s name, address, signature and location removed to
protect the privacy of the model. There is no charge. | | | | Q: | What is the difference between subscription packages and
credit packages? | | A: | Credit packages allow you to download as many images as you
want or need with no significant time limitations. The
majority of our credit packages offer substantial bonuses
and discounts. Furthermore, credit packages allow you to
purchase images under the Royalty free license or under
Extended Licenses. You have to use credits in maximum 12
months from their purchase date, but licenses for your
downloads are lifetime.
Subscriptions on the other hand, are based on a certain
number of downloads allowed on a daily basis, up to 10 or 20
images, depending on the selected plan. Although there is a
daily limit, you can download any image or size. Considering
the high mount of images that you can download, the daily
restriction is applied in order to assure an equal split of
the consumption throughout the whole subscription period.
Please note that subscription packages allow you to purchase
images only under the standard Royalty Free license and that
a level based system is in place.
Subscriptions are usually required by companies demanding
high volume of images daily, while credits provide more
flexibility and cover extra usage. | | | | Q: | I want to buy a volume package of credits because they have
higher discounts. Is there a deadline by when I must use the
credits? | | A: | The unused credits are kept in your account. If you don't
need many images today but want the benefit of a large
discount you can still acquire credits and leave the unused
ones for future use. Credits expire in 12 months since the
date they were bought. This means you have one year to use
these credits for downloading images. After your credits
expire you will have to acquire new credits in order to
download images. | | | | Q: | I just paid but the credits weren't added. What went wrong? | | A: | The companies we use for processing the credit cards may
encounter technical problems. The entire transaction is
performed on their side and due to a technical glitch their
system may not redirect you to our site. For example if you
are using Paypal, ensure you click the "Return to merchant"
button, located on their confirmation page.
Make sure you follow their instructions and if you still
encounter a problem simply send us the confirmation email in
order to add the credits.
| | | | Q: | I downloaded many images and the total number of downloads
is less than the total number of credits I spent. Why? | | A: | The number of downloads you make on the site can be equal or
less with the number of credits spent. This happens because
you can download files that cost more than one credit. Each
of them is counted as a single download, although more
credits have been spent for that image. | | | | Q: | My credit card details are correct, but I receive a payment
error. Where is the problem? | | A: | If you are paying using your credit card, ensure you have
included the card code located on the back of your card. For
Visa, MasterCard, and Discover cards, the card code is the
last 3 digit number located on the back of your card on or
above your signature line.
For an American Express card, it is the last 4 digits at the
very end of your card number.
| | | | Q: | How do I check if extra credits were deducted, so I can ask
for a refund? | | A: | In order to check if several credits were deducted for the
same file (by accident, mistake or because you have exceeded
the 24 hours time interval), please check the "Downloads"
section. If a duplicate appears on that list, email us and
we will refund the missing credits. | | | | Q: | I want to buy the rights for an image that does not have
Royalty-Free license enabled. What do I do? | | A: | You need to contact
support, who will contact the contributor. He/she will
enable the license if that will be possible and set his/her
desired price. The selling price for the rights is decided
by the photographers.
Our agency has a recommended price list to be used as
guideline but the final decision on the price remains to the
photographers entirely.

Contributor-related questions | Q: | What kind of images should I upload? | | A: | We are looking for well defined commercial concepts,
marketable good compositions with creative insight, high
technical level in terms of color, definition, lighting. We
place a great emphasis on the telling of African stories. We
encourage digital processing and creativity, as long as it
gives the image more appeal, but keeping in mind the generic
essence of stock imagery. This is true for the main theme of
the image, too. The subject should be as generic as
possible, while composition clear, without elements that can
distract the viewer from the main theme.
We value intellectual creative process which makes the
difference between concept and point-and-shoot.
One good way to get a better image of what's hot in stock,
is to browse through our best selling images. This way
you'll get a visual, thus more effective help in
understanding and achieving success as a stock photographer
on Africa Knows.
| | | | Q: | How do I receive my payment? | | A: | Photographers can request a payment as soon as their
earnings balance is higher than $100, by applying from the
Management area. Payments are sent as bank checks (that you
can cash at a local bank) and by PayPal. The earnings value
in your account will not show the requested amount, while it
is pending approval. | | | | Q: | What requirements do you have? | | A: | All files must be uploaded in JPG format, RGB, free of noise
or any other artifacts, with a minimum size of 3 MP and a
maximum of 70 MP. Further instructions are given on the
Upload file page. | | | | Q: | I'm a contributor. My images were refused by you, but they
sell well on other sites. Why did you refuse them? | | A: | We would like to accept as many images as possible, but we
reserve the right to refuse images that don't fit our
content or marketing strategy. Each stock agency has its own
audience and strategy. We encourage photographers to inquire
about a refusal by replying to the notification email, but
note that we will not take this type of statement into account. | | | | Q: | I am an illustrator; do you accept illustrations? | | A: | We love illustrations! Vector files should be saved in
raster format, JPG at a high resolution, saved at highest
quality and submitted in this format. As soon as they are
accepted or right from the first submission you can also
upload an additional format (ai, cdr or eps extensions
accepted) which will sell at a higher price. | | | | Q: | I uploaded my first images. When should I expect them to
start to sell? | | A: | Depending on the subject's potential, quality of the photos
and saturation of the database for that specific subject,
you can expect sales after just a few days.
Due to the fact that the buyers may find your image now but
download it later, on the average the first sale occurs
after one month. It happens much earlier if your portfolio
is bigger and you upload more images, constantly.
| | | | Q: | I submitted a few images, but they no longer appear in the
pending list nor among my online files. I presume they were
refused, is this true? | | A: | Probably they were refused and the emails didn't reach you.
Ensure that your email provider or another spam filter is
not blocking our emails. You can check the refusal reasons
for the files you just missed, in the Refused files section,
under your Management area. Note that the files are kept
only for 7 days since their submissions. | | | | Q: | I am a contributor and I want to join AfricaKnows.com. What
should I do? | | A: | We're always looking for more photographers and we are aware
that they are our community's most important asset. We are
keen to provide you with the best experience you ever had
with a photo agency.
First of all you should read carefully our site's Terms
and Conditions. If you agree with them you can register
as a member.
More details about selling your images with us are available
on the Sell
Your Images page. Don't forget to check our FAQ section.
| | | | Q: | How do I fill in the model release document? | | A: | Print the document, fill the information as described below,
then scan it or take a photograph of it. The model release
must be filled in by you, as the photographer, your model
and a witness who has to be a third person of legal age (you
can't be your own witness).
The following fields are mandatory for the model release for
adults:

| | | | Q: | Do I have to use Africa Knows's Model Release document? | | A: | No, you can ask the model to sign your own Model Release, IF
it contains all required information as our own MR document
and all needed legal paragraphs. The MR document can carry
your company's logo, but we don't accept documents signed
specifically for other agencies or that carry their logo. | | | | Q: | My file was refused, what should I do? | | A: | For any specific question, especially regarding refusals,
please do contact support. The email will be answered
shortly by one of the administrators and you will be able to
adjust your future submissions or even to resubmit the file.
Note that we would love to accept all images but the site
has a specific audience and we want to maximize your
portfolio's sales potential. Our criteria for selection are
based on this potential. A refusal should not be seen as a
judgment of your skills but rather as a suggestion of what
we need in the stock database and what we don't.
| | | | Q: | If I stop uploading, will the sales stop? | | A: | No, this is not true. One of the main advantages of stock
photography is that your royalties will keep on coming over
a long time interval. It is nevertheless true that if you
keep uploading, the sales increase much faster. Their amount
can double or triple over the next month, if you upload
constantly. After uploading a large batch of images a
significant number of sales may appear after one month or
sooner. Once you stop uploading, the sales do not grow as
fast as before, still they will not collapse.
These are conclusions based on statistics, your mileage may
vary. Uploading good photos constantly and constantly
improving quality as well as aggressive selectivity of your
own portfolio are the most important "secrets" of success in
stock photography.
| | | | Q: | How do I edit/delete a pending submission? | | A: | The files waiting to be reviewed are listed under the
"Pending files" section within your management area. You can
edit or delete your pending images, as long as they are not
being reviewed by admin. Once they are allocated to admin
for review, the edit buttons will not be available. | | | | Q: | I requested for payment. How long does it take? | | A: | If you select a payment via bank check, it usually takes two
weeks for the check to reach you. If you choose Paypal or
MoneyBookers, it may take a few days up to one week. No
payments are sent during weekends. | | | | Q: | Okay, I uploaded a bunch of images, they got processed and
are now in my Unfinished Files. But they have no thumbnails!
Why? | | A: | This probably happened if the files were saved as CMYK
instead of RGB. Please save your files as RGB and re-upload. | | | | Q: | Can I buy a credit package with my earnings? | | A: | Yes, you can. | | | | Q: | I receive an error message that my image is not 3MP in size
when I try to upload a picture. What can I do? | | A: | In order for you not to get the error message again, you
need to check that your images are at least 3MP. Make sure
that you do not confuse MP (which stands for photo
dimension) with MB (which stands for file size on your
disk). In order to get the MP you have to multiply the
length and the width (measured in pixels) of your image and
divide the result by 1,000,000. For instance, if an image is
3,000 pixels length and 2,000 pixels width then the image
will have 6,000,000 pixels (6MP). | | | | Q: | I want to be able to sell the license for my image. What are
the prices? | | A: | The selling price for the license is decided by the
contributor. Our agency has a recommended price list to be
used as guideline but the final decision on the price
remains to the photographers entirely.
Contributors are recommended not to set very high prices as
buyers may select more affordable files. Setting a very low
price is also not advisable as this is a one-time sale. The
file cannot be licensed/sold/displayed again and it must be
disabled from all other websites, agencies etc. Penalties
for infringements on the sell of rights contract are
extremely severe.
| | | | Q: | How long do I wait for my files to be reviewed? | | A: | After you submit your files, they reach a pending line from
where they will be reviewed in a chronological order. A few
days are usually required. Feel free to submit more images
while the first submissions wait their review. | | | | Q: | My image was approved but I cannot see it in my portfolio . Why? | | A: | After you receive the approval message, you need to wait at
least 24 hours for the accepted image to be online and
visible in all areas of the site. The image may appear
online but not in your portfolio. If the image still does
not appear after 48 hours, you need to contact support. | | | | Q: | How do I delete a model release? | | A: | You can delete model releases from your library yourself if
you don't have any images associated with it. If you have
images associated with a model release that you wish to
delete first upload the new model release under a different
name. Then contact support specifying that you need to
replace the model release for the images with this model and
delete the old one. Include names of the old and new
documents in your email.
